Asclepias syriaca
There are few native plants that give so much in every season than the Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca). Famous for being a favorite of the Monarch Butterflies.

Clusters of fragrant pink flowers emerge in mid-summer (June in Shenandoah NP).
Fall
Seed pods develop in late summer and are filled with white downy seeds that are ready to be picked up and carried by the wind.
